India selected to host historic inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027
By Nawaz Gohar ; The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that India will play host to the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy.
The marquee tournament is scheduled to run from February 14 to 28, 2027, across two premier venues: the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai and the state-of-the-art Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. The six-nation event brings together the world’s elite women’s teams—Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
Qualification was finalized based on the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of the July 6 cut-off date. The tournament will feature an intense round-robin format, culminating in a summit clash between the top two sides on February 28.
Originally awarded to Sri Lanka, the tournament was relocated as Sri Lanka Cricket continues to implement structural reforms outlined during the ICC’s Annual Conference in July.
Following a rigorous evaluation of alternative candidates—including Bangladesh, India, and South Africa—the ICC recommended India as the replacement host, a decision officially ratified by the ICC Board on September 2.

The official match schedule and ticketing details for the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 are expected to be announced in due course.
