Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and National T20 Matches to Be Held in Karachi, Says Osama Sheron Niazi
KARACHI (Sports Reporter): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director of Domestic Cricket Operations Osama Sheron Niazi has announced that matches of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and National T20 will be held in Karachi.
He added that efforts would also be made to organise other domestic cricket tournaments in the city. He further warned that strict action, in accordance with PCB rules and regulations, would be taken against players participating in tournaments held without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB.
He made these remarks during a meeting with officials of the Regional Cricket Association Karachi (RCA Karachi) during his visit to the KCCA Stadium.
The meeting focused on promoting domestic and club cricket in Karachi, the availability of cricket grounds, the organisation of tournaments and creating more opportunities for young and talented cricketers.
Osama Sheron Niazi said that, under the leadership of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, comprehensive measures were being taken to promote and develop cricket across the country.
He explained that the primary objective of these initiatives was to provide young and talented cricketers with maximum opportunities to showcase their abilities, perform consistently and earn selection for the national team.
He further stated that the PCB issues NOCs for tournaments in accordance with recommendations from the Regional Cricket Associations. Players registered with clubs should participate only in tournaments conducted in accordance with PCB rules and regulations. Strict disciplinary action would be taken against players who participate in tournaments organised without the required NOC.
Highlighting Karachi’s significant contribution to Pakistan cricket, Osama Sheron Niazi said that the city had produced legendary and renowned cricketers such as Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq. Through their outstanding performances, these players had brought international recognition and pride to Pakistan.
He emphasised the need for further initiatives to promote cricket in Karachi and develop talented players so that the city could continue producing outstanding cricketers for Pakistan at the national level.
Praising the KCCA Stadium, he said that Nadeem Omar had developed the facility to an excellent standard, making it comparable to any quality cricket ground in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, RCA Karachi Secretary Ali Hussain said that it was a matter of great pleasure and honour to welcome Osama Sheron Niazi, Director of Domestic Cricket Operations at the PCB.
He assured the PCB that RCA Karachi would continue to extend its full cooperation at every level to promote, develop and improve cricket. He reiterated the association’s commitment to working closely with the PCB for the betterment of the game and the development of young cricketers.
RCA Karachi Tournament Committee Chairman Khalid Nafees observed that despite the shortage of cricket grounds in Karachi, the city hosted more cricket than any other part of the country.
He appreciated the efforts of RCA Karachi President Nadeem Omar, stating that his continued efforts had helped sustain cricketing activities across the city and provided players with valuable opportunities to demonstrate their talent and improve their performances.
RCA Karachi Joint Secretary Muhammad Touseef Siddiqui stressed the need to allocate a separate window for club cricket tournaments to ensure their effective organisation and smooth scheduling. He proposed that a dedicated period should be reserved exclusively for club cricket competitions.
He said that this initiative would help clubs organise their activities more effectively, improve tournament management and provide young cricketers with more opportunities to play competitive cricket.
Earlier, upon Osama Sheron Niazi’s arrival at the KCCA Stadium, he was warmly welcomed by zonal officials led by RCA Karachi Secretary Ali Hussain, Tournament Committee Chairman Khalid Nafees and Joint Secretary Muhammad Touseef Siddiqui. Ali Hussain, Khalid Nafees and Muhammad Touseef Siddiqui presented him with bouquets of flowers as a gesture of welcome.
A large number of RCA Karachi zonal officials attended the meeting. Participants exchanged views and suggestions on promoting domestic and club cricket in Karachi,
organising tournaments effectively, improving the availability of cricket grounds and creating better opportunities for young players to progress in the game.

At the conclusion of his visit, Osama Sheron Niazi thanked RCA Karachi officials for their warm welcome and gracious hospitality.
