Pakistani wrestlers secure two medals at Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China

By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistani wrestlers have delivered an outstanding performance at the ongoing Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, securing at least two medals for the country.

National wrestlers Inam Butt and Asadullah have both qualified for the finals, significantly boosting Pakistan’s hopes for gold.

In the 80kg category, Asadullah showcased a brilliant performance. He first defeated his arch-rival from India in the quarter-final before overcoming the host nation’s wrestler from China in the semi-final to secure his spot in the gold medal match.

Similarly, in the 90kg category, the veteran Inam Butt displayed exceptional skills. He advanced to the final after defeating wrestlers from Bahrain in the quarter-final and Mongolia in the semi-final.

Both Pakistani wrestlers are now set to face Iranian opponents in the finals, matches that are being regarded as highly critical.

Meanwhile, in the 70kg category, Muhammad Abdullah faced a setback after losing his semi-final bout against an Indian wrestler. However, he remains in contention for a medal and will compete against a wrestler from Kyrgyzstan for the bronze medal.

The Secretary of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation (and competing athlete), Inam Butt, praised the team’s performance, stating that the athletes have brought pride to the nation. He also appealed to the public to pray for their success in the final matches.
