Nawaz Gohar from Riyadh ; Pakistani high jumper Shehroze Khan was unable to secure a medal for Pakistan at the Athletics events of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, delivering a disappointing performance in the men’s high jump.
Despite being specially included in the Games roster by the Pakistan Sports Board, Shehroze Khan had not participated in the trials conducted for selection. The trials were won by Army’s Ahmed Faraz, who had earned the right to represent Pakistan in the event.
In Riyadh, Shehroze Khan finished fourth with a best jump of 2.08 meters. Uzbekistan’s Amir Nagiev claimed the gold medal with a 2.15-meter leap, while Turkey’s Yaser Kodoban secured silver, also clearing 2.15 meters but ranking second due to countback rules. The bronze medal went to an Omani athlete who achieved 2.13 meters.
Shehroze Khan’s performance marks a setback for Pakistan’s athletics contingent at the Islamic Solidarity Games, highlighting the challenges faced by athletes competing at the international level.
