Pakistan Hold Jordan & Nigeria 1-1, Secure First 2 Points at FIFA U-15 World Cup
Shaheens Stand Tall Against Asian and African Giants, Claim Historic First World Cup Points
Pakistan hold Jordan and Nigeria to 1-1 draws in a memorable double-header, earning their first two points at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026.
Pakistan’s Shaheens produced an impressive display against two highly regarded opponents, holding Jordan and Nigeria to 1-1 draws in a demanding double-header at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026 in Azerbaijan.
The results earned Pakistan their first two points on the World Cup stage, with the young side demonstrating resilience, attacking intent and the ability to compete with established footballing nations from both Asia and Africa.
Pakistan began the day against Jordan and made their mark through Kaleemullah, who scored to put the Shaheens ahead. Pakistan held their own against their Asian opponents, competing strongly and carrying their threat into the second half.
Jordan eventually found an equaliser through a fortunate goal, with the ball squeezing inside the post after a close-range sequence. Despite the setback, Pakistan remained competitive and secured a valuable point against a highly regarded opponent.
The Shaheens carried that confidence into their second match of the day against Nigeria, one of Africa’s most prominent footballing nations. Pakistan again showed their attacking quality, taking a 1-0 lead in the first half and putting their opponents under pressure.
Nigeria found an equaliser after a scramble inside the penalty area, reacting quickest to a loose ball and poking it home. However, Pakistan continued to demonstrate their ability to challenge a physically strong and technically accomplished side.
As in the Jordan match, Pakistan showed particular purpose after the break, matching their opponents and competing with confidence. Nigeria were unable to find a winning goal as the Shaheens stood firm to secure a second 1-1 draw of the day.
Across both fixtures, Pakistan showed they could compete with far more established opposition. The team held its own in the first halves and grew into both matches after the interval, combining defensive resilience with the confidence to attack.
Two draws against Jordan and Nigeria mark an important milestone for Pakistan’s young footballers. Beyond the points themselves, the performances offered evidence of a team gaining belief and experience on the international stage.
Pakistan will have a rest day on October 27, with no matches scheduled. The Shaheens will return to action on October 28 as the tournament moves into its next phase, which will feature further fixtures for all participating teams based on their performance in the opening stage.
