PSL 11: How much did franchises invest in their retained players?

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), franchises have submitted the details of their retained players and their respective salaries to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The disclosures reveal which players have been retained for the highest amounts.

Leading the list of the highest-paid players are Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Shadab Khan, all of whom have been retained by their franchises for 70 million PKR (7 Crore) each. These four players will continue to represent their respective teams in PSL 11.

In other major signings, Islamabad United secured New Zealand’s Devon Conway for 63 million PKR (6.3 Crore), while Karachi Kings included Moeen Ali in their squad for 64.4 million PKR (6.44 Crore).

Karachi Kings also retained several other players across various categories, including Hasan Ali for 47.6 million PKR (4.76 Crore). Similarly, Usman Tariq was retained for 56 million PKR (5.6 Crore), Sufiyan Muqeem for 44.8 million PKR (4.48 Crore), Abbas Afridi for 30.8 million PKR (3.08 Crore), and Abdullah Shafique for 22 million PKR (2.2 Crore).

Other retained players include Khushdil Shah at 33.6 million PKR (3.36 Crore), Hasan Nawaz at 39.2 million PKR (3.92 Crore), Sikandar Raza at 28 million PKR (2.8 Crore), and Abdul Samad at 20.8 million PKR (2.08 Crore).

According to PCB regulations, it was mandatory for all franchises to provide the details of retained players’ salaries to the board within the stipulated time, a process which has now been completed.
