The International Cricket Council has announced an extensive media content plan for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 that will provide written, visual, and digital media outlets plenty of assistance in their coverage of the eight-team tournament.
The ICC is committed to the growth of the women’s game and understanding that there is a growing appetite for content worldwide has arranged to provide news reports, features, columns, videos of interviews as well as transcripts and translationsto ensure the media and fans do not miss anything.
Please note that all content should be used giving credit to the International Cricket Council. The following material will be available on the Online Media Zone in the coming weeks:
Build-up articles – Starting Wednesday, a wide variety of build-up articles about past events as well as the upcoming tournament will be made available. These will include topics such as the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, past heroes and players to look out for.
Captains’ columns – Captains of participating teams will be writing first-person articles for the ICC as part of the event build-up, speaking about their team and the tournament. These columns will provide great insight into what the team objectives are and what they expect in New Zealand.
Match reports, roundups and other articles – Match reports and daily wraps will form the core of the coverage with crisp articles in a ready-to-use form. A team will be writing exclusively for the ICC, ensuring top-class content including features, interviews and previews covering all teams and venues.
Photographs – A selection of photographs from matches and other activities will be provided for free editorial use on the Online Media Zone. Please note that only the images available in downloadable format are for editorial use. The rights of other images, published in the Online Media Zone, including those in media releases, may not belong to the ICC.
Media conference videos – All pre-match and post-match media conferences will be recorded by a dedicated ICC crew and unedited versions of the videos will be provided to the media. Abridged versions will also be produced. Please note that videos may be used on websites and news channels but are not for direct use on social media platforms. The press conferences will also go live on our Social Media channels.
Transcripts – Verbatim transcripts will be provided from all post-match press conferences. These can be expected within 30 minutes of each media interaction, giving media the chance to quote players quickly without having to transcribe long audio recordings.
Translations – We are introducing translations for all post-match press conferences this time. This service will help players, who may be more fluent in their own languages, to be quoted extensively by media across the world as the English translations will be available in the Online Media Zone.
B-Roll Footage – Video footage from team practice sessions will be provided wherever possible to help package digital programs. These will be uploaded to the videos sections in a downloadable format and will be around 90 seconds each.
Daily Stats Packs – We will provide a daily statistics package highlighting the performances of the day as well as summing up team positions in the tournament. These will be available in the Resources section of the Online Media Zone at the end of each day.
Media Guide – A comprehensive media guide with tournament, player and match official statistics, details about the venue, tournament, contact numbers and other information will be part of the Online Media Zone in a downloadable format. This too will be available in the Resources section.
