Karachi (Sports Reporter) – Imran Anees Siddiqui won the Naya Nazimabad Jashn-e-Azadi Snooker Championship. In a thrilling and exciting final, Mujaddid Khan was defeated in a tie-breaker.
Imran Anees Siddiqui clinched the title by displaying a magnificent performance in the best-of-five final held at the Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana.
Mujaddid Khan put up a spirited fight but lost the match in the final frame due to a wayward shot during the black-ball tie-breaker.
The chief guest—former Federal Minister and senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Dr. Farooq Sattar—along with the President of the Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana, Syed Muhammad Talha, distributed prizes among the players. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Farooq Sattar remarked that both players had displayed an excellent game.
He noted that winning and losing are part of the sport; he congratulated the winner and encouraged the player who lost to work even harder. Dr. Farooq Sattar further added that the sports facilities at Naya Nazimabad are outstanding.
Renowned industrialist Arif Habib has truly developed Naya Nazimabad as a sports city, featuring infrastructure for over twenty sports, including swimming, squash, cricket, football, and badminton. He expressed the hope that the youth would take advantage of these facilities and prepare for domestic and international competitions.
At the event, Hassan Khan secured third place after achieving a high break of 49, while Muhammad Atiq (Ami) was defeated in the semi-final. Muhammad Ahmed officiated as the referee.
Prominent businessmen Tariq Iqbal, Saleem Tariq, and Kamran Sheikh, along with Sports Manager Muhammad Asif, Field Manager Irfan Sajid, and others, were also present on the occasion.
