Pakistan will face Bangladesh in SF of Five-Nation Basketball C’ship
ISLAMABAD, June 19: Pakistan will face Bangladesh on today (Tuesday) in the semi-final of the on-going five-nation international basketball championship at Male, Maldives.
The line-up of the semi-finals of the five-nation international basketball championship has been completed after the completion of last league round match between Nepal and host Maldives as host country crashed out from the event after being defeated by Nepal in the last league match by 75-68 points.
Pakistan basketball team won the last three matches by showing excellent performance in the league round matches, Pakistan defeated Maldives by 65-63 points, Bhutan by 76-53 points and Bangladesh by 84-66 points respectively, while the green shirts had to face defeat in the first match against Nepal by 66-62 points.
In the semi-final round which will be held on June 20 (Tuesday), Nepal and Bhutan will compete in the first semi-final match, while Pakistan will fight against Bangladesh in the second semi-final match of the championship.
Muhammad Shahbaz Ali is leading the national basketball team in the five-nation championship as Pakistan team is participating in any international event after seven years.
Pakistan squad: Muhammad Shahbaz Ali (captain), Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Umair Jan, Zain ul Hassan Khan, Muhammad Shahid, Imad Ahmed, Zia Ur Rehman, Saqib Ullah Mahsood, Mahtab Akram and Sheraz Aslam.
