The third and final Twenty20 International between South Africa and Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium was abandoned on Saturday without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain and lightning.
Match officials waited for two hours after the scheduled start before officially calling off the game, leaving South Africa to claim a 2-0 series victory. This marks the Proteas’ first bilateral series win since August 2022.

The final encounter of the series faced delays right from the start, with rain and lightning preventing even the toss from taking place. The weather showed no signs of improvement, forcing the abandonment.

South Africa secured the series with commanding victories in the first two matches, exposing weaknesses in Pakistan’s lineup. The home team displayed consistent performances with both bat and ball.
Pakistan, having lost the series, had announced one change to their playing XI ahead of the third match. Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha was set to replace Usman Khan, whose struggles with the bat in the earlier matches prompted the management to bolster the lineup.
