Rizwan Demands Mobile Phone Return and Official Inquiry Details From NCCIA
Mohammad Rizwan has asked the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority (NCCIA ) to clarify the basis of its inquiry and set out the next steps in writing, while also seeking the return of his mobile phone. The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter made the requests in his second letter to the agency.
The latest correspondence comes after Rizwan appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore on September 10. He maintains that he has not received any subsequent written notice explaining what specific matter is being investigated or telling him when he must appear again.
Rizwan also addressed questions surrounding access to his phone. The device was taken in England on August 31, and he says he supplied its password at the time.
He further stated that investigators were able to inspect the unlocked phone when he appeared before the NCCIA, including reviewing messages and other material stored on it.
Rizwan Seeks Return of Phone
According to the letter, Rizwan was told when the phone was taken that it would be returned within three hours and that its digital forensic examination would be completed shortly. The device, however, remains with the agency.
The 34-year-old has therefore asked the NCCIA to return the phone without further delay. His latest request follows earlier correspondence in which he also sought an explanation for why the agency had summoned him and why his device had not been returned.
Rizwan Seeks Inquiry’s Written Details
Rizwan has also requested a written explanation of the reasons for the inquiry and details of any future appearance required from him. He wants the NCCIA to communicate further requirements through official channels and send correspondence to his residential address.
The has involved Rizwan and fellow Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq, with investigators examining information from their mobile phones. Reports have linked the investigation to alleged dressing-room information leaks and other matters, although no final finding of wrongdoing against Rizwan has been officially announced.
Rizwan’s latest letter comes after the Lahore High Court dismissed his challenge to the NCCIA notices and directed him to respond to the agency’s proceedings. The court also said he could approach the appropriate forum regarding the recovery of items, including his mobile phone.
