Riyadh : By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan’s celebrated javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, clinching the gold medal with a commanding throw of 83.05 meters. His compatriot Muhammad Yasir Sultan added to Pakistan’s triumph by claiming the silver medal, marking a historic one-two finish for the nation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Arshad Nadeem’s victory marks his second consecutive gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games, further cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s premier track and field athletes. From the very first round, Nadeem established his dominance with an impressive throw of 75.44 meters, leaving all competitors behind, while Yasir Sultan recorded 70.32 meters in the opening attempt.

In the second round, Nadeem extended his lead with a spectacular 83.05-meter throw, with Yasir following closely at 74.43 meters. He continued his form into the third round, throwing 82.48 meters, consolidating his position at the top, while Yasir managed 72.82 meters, remaining in third place. In the fourth round, Nadeem produced a throw of 77.06 meters and Yasir 73.78 meters, ensuring that Pakistan maintained its hold on the top two podium positions.

This remarkable performance also represents Pakistan’s first gold and silver medals at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games. Prior to the javelin event, Pakistan had won two bronze medals in boxing, bringing the country’s overall medal tally at the games to four.

Arshad Nadeem’s gold and Yasir Sultan’s silver not only highlight Pakistan’s growing strength in athletics but also add a significant milestone to the nation’s sporting history. Their combined efforts have brought pride and recognition to Pakistan on the international stage, demonstrating the country’s potential in track and field events.
