12 Departments, 33 Matches: Punjab Premier League to kick off in Lahore on Feb 18

By Nawaz Gohar ; The inaugural ceremony of the province’s first-ever Punjab Premier League (PPL) was held in Lahore under the auspices of the Punjab Government, where Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin formally unveiled the trophy for the debut season.

The event saw high-level participation from senior government officials and representatives of various departments. Notable attendees included the Additional IG, COO of RUDA, Vice Chairman of WASA, Director General of the Punjab Food Authority, and DG WASA Punjab, among other prominent figures.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilal Yasin remarked that following the success of the Basant Festival, the province is now ready to embrace the excitement of cricket. He highlighted that the league would serve as a positive and healthy recreational activity for government employees.

The Punjab Premier League will feature officers and employees from 12 different departments of the Punjab Government competing for the title. The tournament is scheduled to begin on February 18, featuring a total of 33 matches, with the grand final set to take place in March.

All matches will be hosted at the EME and DHA grounds in Lahore. Participants expressed that this event will not only foster harmony between government institutions but also strengthen a healthy environment through sports activities.
