Audit report exposes 15-year financial oversight failure at Pakistan Sports Board

By Nawaz Gohar ; A severe lapse in financial accountability has been unearthed at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), revealing that the institution has failed to audit its accounts for the past 15 years.

In its latest annual audit report, the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) highlighted multiple grave financial irregularities within the board’s operations. According to the report, the PSB has not prepared its mandatory financial statements for a decade and a half, spanning from the fiscal year 2009–10 to 2024–25.

Furthermore, the AGP report revealed that the PSB failed to comply with the Treasury Single Account (TSA) regulations. Under the provisions of the Public Finance Management Act of 2019, it is legally mandatory for all state-owned funds to be maintained within the Treasury Single Account.

Contrary to these statutory requirements, the Pakistan Sports Board maintained a separate, unauthorized commercial bank account. The report detailed that as of June 30, 2025, this specific bank account held a balance of PKR 32,090,591.
