Sajid Memorial Club beats Centurion Club in Yaseen Akhtar Memorial T20 thriller
By Nawaz Gohar ; Sajid Memorial Club secured a hard-fought 7-run victory over Centurion Club during the Yaseen Akhtar Memorial T20 Cup’s
gripping encounter that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The match, held at the Pindi Gymkhana Ground, showcased an intense display of cricketing talent from both sides.
Sent into bat first, Sajid Memorial Club managed to put up a competitive total of 148 runs for the loss of 9 wickets within their allotted 20 overs. Ali Mubeen led the charge with a responsible knock of 34 runs, providing stability to the innings. Valuable contributions from Mohammad Bilal (22) and an unbeaten 21 from Mohammad Saif helped bolster the team’s total.
Centurion Club’s bowling unit remained disciplined throughout, with Ali Turab leading the attack. Turab proved to be the most effective bowler, claiming 3 wickets and restricting the opposition from posting a more imposing target.
In response, Centurion Club faced a challenging chase under pressure. Despite a brilliant individual performance by Asadullah, who hammered 56 runs, the team failed to cross the finishing line, ultimately being bowled out for 141 runs.
Sajid Memorial Club’s bowlers executed their plans to perfection. The bowling attack was a collective effort, with Jaish Ali, Mohammad Saif, Shahzad Ahmed, and Adeel Manzoor each picking up two wickets,
ensuring a steady fall of wickets that prevented the Centurion batters from settling in. Following their impactful all-round performances, Mohammad Saif and Jaish Ali were jointly declared “Man of the Match.”
The match was graced by Abid Hussain, Manager of Cricket Operations at the Lahore Regional Cricket Association (LRCA), who attended as the Chief Guest. Before the start of play, he was introduced to both teams. Also present to witness the action were Waqar-ul-Munir, Chairman of the Tournament Committee, and Mohammad Owais Sarwar, President of Sajid Memorial Club.
