By Nawaz Gohar ; The launching ceremony for the Doctors Premier League (DPL) 2026 was successfully held at a local hotel yesterday, drawing significant participation from the medical fraternity and senior faculty members.
The primary objective of this unique sporting initiative is to provide healthcare professionals, who often face high-pressure environments, with opportunities for healthy recreation, fostering teamwork and physical well-being alongside their rigorous professional duties.
The event was graced by Associate Professor Dr. Owais Naeem, Medical and Hospital Director of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), who attended as the Guest of Honor. Renowned actor, model, and CEO of Airy Apartments, Imran Abbas, added prestige to the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Organized under the auspices of the KMC Students Literary Society, the ceremony was attended by a large number of doctors, faculty members, and medical experts from Khyber Teaching Hospital. During the proceedings, speakers highlighted the league’s objectives, describing it as a vital step toward promoting a balanced lifestyle within the medical community.

A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the official DPL 2026 trophy, which sparked immense enthusiasm among the attendees.
The indoor cricket tournament is scheduled to commence next week, featuring six teams comprised of faculty members from various medical departments.
By integrating competitive sports with clinical excellence, the league aims to promote mental and physical fitness, ensuring a positive and revitalized environment for those serving on the front lines of healthcare.
