Mohsin Naqvi’s appointment as PCB Chairman challenged in Lahore High Court
By Nawaz Gohar ; The appointment of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition, filed by a citizen named Ashba Kamran, contends that under the constitution and prevailing laws, a sitting Senator and Cabinet member is barred from holding an additional administrative position.
Therefore, the petitioner argues, Mr. Naqvi’s appointment as the PCB chief is illegal and unconstitutional.
Furthermore, the petitioner informed the court that the Chairman of the Senate has taken no action regarding Mr. Naqvi’s dual role as the head of the cricket board.
The petition asserts that the notification issued by the Prime Minister appointing Mohsin Naqvi as the PCB Chairman lacks legal validity.
The petitioner has requested the Lahore High Court to declare the notification null and void and to set aside Mr. Naqvi’s appointment as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
