Malaysia Defeats Pakistan to Claim Asian Games 2026 Squash Gold
NAGOYA: Malaysia defeats Pakistan 2-0 in the men’s squash team final at the on Friday, with victories for Ameeshenraj Chandaran and Eain Yow Ng handing Malaysia the gold medal at Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.
Pakistan entered the final after beating Hong Kong, China 2-1 in the semi-final but could not repeat that result against Malaysia. The defeat left Pakistan with the silver medal, its first medal of the Asian Games 2026 after six bronze medals.
Chandaran overcame Nasir Iqbal in the opening match after Nasir took the first game 11-8. The Malaysian responded by winning the next three games 11-3, 11-6 and 11-4 to put his team 1-0 ahead.
Pakistan needed Noor Zaman to win the second match against Eain Yow Ng to force a deciding tie. Zaman initially looked capable of doing so after recovering from an 11-8 first-game loss to take the next two games 11-6 and 11-7.
The Malaysian player, however, closed out the contest with two successive game wins. Eain Yow Ng took the fourth 11-4 and the fifth 11-5, giving Malaysia an unassailable lead and removing the need for a third match.
The result brought Pakistan’s Asian Games 2026 Squash campaign to an end with a silver medal in the men’s team competition. The team reached the final after overcoming Hong Kong, China in the last four.
Malaysia completed the final with victories in both matches and secured the men’s team title without dropping the tie to a deciding rubber.
