Historic Win as Pakistan Defeats China in Asian Games 2026 Men’s Volleyball
Pakistan ended a 64-year wait for an Asian Games men’s volleyball medal after beating China 3–0 in the bronze-medal match at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games on Saturday.
The result at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium secured Pakistan’s first volleyball medal at the Asian Games since the 1962 Jakarta edition, when they also won bronze. Pakistan completed the latest victory with set scores of 25–18, 25–16 and 25–18.
Murad Khan led Pakistan’s scoring effort with 18 points, while Afaq Khan and Ali Usman Faryad contributed 14 each. Musawer Khan added eight points as Pakistan maintained control of the match despite China’s attempts to stay within reach.
Pakistan’s advantage was particularly clear in attack. They converted 16 of 25 spike attempts in the opening set and built on that efficiency in the second, where they took a 2–0 lead with a 25–16 win.
China showed greater resistance in the final set, but Pakistan established an early advantage and kept enough distance to finish the contest in three sets.
The victory completed a campaign that included wins over Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India, with their only defeats coming against hosts Japan in the pool stage and defending champions Iran in the semi-final.
The semi-final loss to Iran had ended Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the gold-medal match, with the defending champions winning 25–13, 25–15 and 25–11 on Friday. Pakistan responded a day later by delivering a controlled performance against China when a medal was at stake.
The bronze also adds to Pakistan’s medal tally at the 20th Asian Games and gives the men’s volleyball team its first Asian Games podium finish in more than six decades.
The result confirms that Pakistan won bronze in Asian Games 2026 men’s Volleyball after overcoming China in the third-place playoff. It was also the latest chapter in a tournament campaign in which Pakistan defeated China in Asian Games 2026 men’s Volleyball to secure a historic podium finish.
