PU wins Lahore Runners 5km in men, women category
LAHORE: Punjab University Athletes Kaleem Akhtar and Gonish Batool have won first positions each in men and women category in 5km race organized today (Sunday) by the Lahore Runners group at CBD Kalama Chowk Lahore.
In men’s category around 500 contestants were the participants while in women this number was around 200.
PU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali has congratulated both athletes as well as their coaches and Director Sports Dr Shabbir Sarwar on this win.
He termed this win as “excellent” and said this victory was not doubt because of continuous struggle, training and dedication of PU athletes and coaches.
He said PU was striving to provide an enabling environment to its athletes for their state of the art training and best performances.
It is noteworthy that last year also PU athletes including Gonish had shown remarkable performance in the Lahore Runners event.
