India’s participation in Central Asian Volleyball Championship remains uncertain
By Nawaz Gohar ; Uncertainty continues to surround India’s participation in the Central Asian Volleyball Championship, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from July 22 to 29, as the Indian team has yet to confirm its participation.
Sources said the Indian Volleyball Federation is still awaiting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from its government to travel to Pakistan. Although the Pakistan Volleyball Federation forwarded the NOC issued by the Government of Pakistan to its Indian counterpart last week, an official confirmation from the visiting team has not yet been received.
According to the tournament regulations, if India fails to confirm its participation within the next two days, it will be excluded from the championship. Pakistan Volleyball Federation officials are expected to issue an updated tournament schedule within the next two to three days if required.
Meanwhile, organisers have received participation confirmations from Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Foreign teams are scheduled to begin arriving in Islamabad from July 20, while all arrangements for the championship have been finalised. The tournament will be played from July 22 to 29, with Pakistan set to host some of the region’s leading volleyball nations.
