Mohammad Shahzad Breaks Misbah’s Record With Blistering 49-Ball Century
Mohammad Shahzad produced one of the quickest centuries in first-class cricket on Thursday, reaching three figures from 49 deliveries for Pakistan Television (PTV) against Kingsmen Academy in the President’s Trophy Grade-I.
The innings came in Islamabad during the third-round fixture and moved Shahzad beyond a record that had belonged to former Pakistan captain for more than a decade. Mohammad Shahzad breaks Misbah’s record with a century that came seven balls quicker than Misbah’s previous mark.
Misbah had reached his hundred in 56 balls against Australia in 2014, while Hasan Ali remains third on Pakistan’s list after his 58-ball century for Central Punjab against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2021.
Shahzad’s assault featured 12 fours and eight sixes before he was eventually dismissed for 114 from 62 balls. The hundred was his sixth in first-class cricket and also placed him eighth among the fastest centuries recorded in first-class cricket.
