Pakistan White-Ball Cricket Squad Departs for Japan to Participate in Asian Games 2026
Karachi: The Pakistan white-ball cricket squad has departed from Karachi via Dubai for Japan to participate in the Asian Games 2026.
Before departing for Japan, a 4-day training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Center at the National Stadium Karachi concluded on Thursday.
On the final day of the camp, 5 key players busy in the Caribbean League – Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Maaz Sadaqat, Hasan Nawaz and Sufyan Muqeem – joined the squad.Fast bowler Mohammad Salman Mirza has been ruled out of the Asian Games squad due to a fracture in his left thumb.
After special permission, Mohammad Wasim Jr. has been included in the 15-member national squad in his place. The squad comprises Sahibzada Farhan (Captain), Abdul Samad (Vice-Captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufyan Muqeem and Usman Khan (Wicket-keeper).
The 6-member support staff includes Mike Hesson (Head Coach), Ashley Noffke (Bowling Coach), Shane McDermott (Fielding Coach), Mohammad Tahir (Physiotherapist), Imranullah (Trainer) and Usman Hashmi (Analyst).
The men’s cricket tournament in the Asian Games 2026 officially begins from Friday. In the preliminary round, 6 teams will compete, out of which 4 teams will qualify for the quarter-finals.
Pakistan will face its opponent in the first quarter-final on September 28, while defending champion and top seed India will be in action in the second quarter-final
