Sahibzada Farhan Reveals Kane Williamson’s Advice Ahead of Asian Games
Sahibzada Farhan has spoken about a conversation with Kane Williamson that gave him something to work on in his batting. The Pakistan batter, who is leading the side at the Asian Games 2026, also said he would be willing to take charge of the T20I team on a permanent basis if the opportunity comes his way.
Farhan shared the details while speaking to the media before Pakistan’s campaign in Japan. He said Williamson focused on his approach during the powerplay, suggesting that he should look to score more freely and limit the number of dot balls in the early overs.
“Kane Williamson pointed out one of my weaknesses to me. I need to improve my strike rate during the powerplay and avoid playing too many dot balls in that phase,” said while talking to the reporters.
Farhan then applauded the domestic setup of Pakistan, saying playing regularly in the domestic matches helped him to claim his place in the national side.
“Domestic cricket gives you an opportunity to make a comeback. I have always made my comeback through domestic cricket,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
Farhan also spoke about the honor of captaining Pakistan, saying he is extremely proud to lead the team in the Asian Games 2026.
When asked whether he wants to lead the team on a permanent basis, Farhan admitted that he would not shy away from the opportunity if it comes his way in the near future.
“If I am given the permanent captaincy, I will definitely accept it. But right now, my only focus is on the Asian Games and my responsibilities as captain of this team,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
For the unversed, Pakistan will enter the knockout stage of the Asian Games directly on September 28, when they will play their quarter-final. The medal matches will then take place on October 3, in which the green shirts are firmly aiming to win a gold.
