Fans will enjoy my captaincy: Sahibzada Farhan ready for debut T20I captaincy

By Nawaz Gohar ; Newly appointed Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan expressed immense pride and confidence during a pre-series press conference ahead of the T20I series against Sri Lanka, stating that representing his country as skipper for the first time is a moment of great honor.

“Leading the national team naturally brings pressure, but captaincy is not a major issue for me as I have prior experience leading teams in domestic cricket,” Farhan said. “I am confident that cricket fans will thoroughly enjoy watching my captaincy style.”

Farhan highlighted the strength of the 15-member squad provided to him, noting that the presence of seasoned senior players alongside emerging talent creates a balanced combination. “The presence of senior players will greatly assist me on the field. To send a positive message to teammates, a captain must lead by example with strong individual performances,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Farhan revealed the emotional significance of his appointment. “I had never specifically planned for the captaincy, but my father always prayed that one day I would lead the Pakistan cricket team. Parents’ prayers truly manifest,” he shared, adding that he admires Sarfaraz Ahmed’s aggressive leadership style.

Outlining the team’s tactical approach, Farhan stressed the importance of maintaining an aggressive T20 mindset at the top of the order. He indicated that Pakistan plans to field a balanced bowling attack comprising two spinners and three seamers on pitch conditions expected to favor batting.

Addressing his long-term prospects, Farhan remained focused on the immediate task: “I know how to navigate challenges in my cricket career. I am not thinking about whether I will retain the captaincy in the future—as long as I have this role, my sole ambition is to win matches for Pakistan through innovative strategies.”

He also paid tribute to Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, calling them two of the finest players in world cricket.
