Performance against India paved my way back:

Hasan Nawaz shares Heartfelt journey ahead of Sri Lanka T20Is

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Just hours before the official kickoff of the T20I series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s hard-hitting batter Hasan Nawaz held a candid press conference at the Rawalpinidi Cricket Stadium, laying bare his emotional journey and struggles to regain a spot in the national side.

For cricket followers across the country, the interview held significant weight as Hasan openly admitted that a previous fixture against arch-rivals India led to his exclusion from the squad. Ironically, it was a standout performance against the exact same opponent that eventually earned him his comeback.

Recalling his period on the sidelines, Hasan revealed that Head Coach Mike Hesson gave him direct, unvarnished instructions: return to domestic and local circuits and earn his place back through solid performances. To restore his form and rhythm, Hasan relentlessly competed across club and local cricket, taking every available opportunity to refine his technique and mindset.

Touching upon his recent performance, Hasan expressed deep disappointment over missing out on the ultimate prize despite playing a magnificent knock. “There is no value in scoring 96 runs if it doesn’t lead the team to victory,” he remarked, adding that failing to secure the gold medal would remain a lingering regret.

Analyzing the turning point of that contest, Hasan stated his firm belief that the team was fully capable of chasing down the 211-run target. However, he noted that a couple of critical overs in the middle period slipped away due to unforced errors, ultimately swinging the momentum out of their reach.
