At the World Athletics Championship 2025, the world’s biggest athletics event after the Olympics, Arshad Nadeem may have finished tenth and missed out on the medals,
but let us never forget that he is one of Pakistan’s brightest and most shining stars. Sports are about winning and losing—every time someone moves ahead, another falls behind.
The true beauty and power of sport lies in competition, participation, and striving for excellence. And in this, Arshad Nadeem has already secured his name in the golden chapters of history.
Today, we as a nation salute him for raising the name of Pakistan and the green crescent flag so clearly on the grandest of stages. He remains our true hero, whether he wins or loses. With every throw,
Pakistan’s name echoed across the arenas, and the world once again recognized our flag. These are the moments that shape the identity of a nation. We must take pride that through Arshad, Pakistan’s name and flag reached millions of eyes across electronic, print, and digital media.
Today, the real test of strength is no longer on the battlefield, but in the arenas of sport. Nations that once fought and conquered with bullets now raise their flags in victory through sports. Sport is a power that not only gives our youth a healthy and strong body,
but also provides them with a positive direction—one that carries a message of peace, brotherhood, and unity to the world.
Pakistan is a nuclear power, blessed with a brave army and a history of contributing to global peace. Yet, through sports too, we can deliver the message that Pakistan stands for peace and progress. Sport is a universal language understood by all nations and generations.
There was a time when Pakistan ruled the world of hockey, athletics, squash, cricket, boxing, wrestling, and weightlifting.
Those days are still remembered when Pakistani athletes stunned the world with their performances. Sadly, our institutions and authorities never gave due attention to preserve and build on that legacy.
Now is the time for our rulers and policymakers to feel ashamed and to stop reducing sports to ceremonial events and mere festivals. Sports are a national asset, and they must be made a part of foreign diplomacy, youth development, and the global projection of Pakistan’s positive image.
Heroes like Arshad Nadeem, Jahangir Khan, Sohail Abbas, and Pakistan’s cricketing icons are our true wealth. These are the men whose hard work, sacrifice, and determination raise our flag on the biggest stages of the world.
They deserve our utmost respect in every circumstance. Sports not only guarantee a healthier society but also open the doors of peace, friendship, and progress.
The Government of Pakistan and responsible institutions must wake up now. If we fail to make sports a part of our national policy and diplomacy, history will never forgive us.
Arshad Nadeem—you may win or lose, but we love you. You are the pride of Pakistan and a symbol of peace and honor in the arenas of the world.
