Glasgow 2026 taps Coca-Cola for Greener Games and Global Partnership

Lahore: The road to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games just gained a familiar spark. In a move that blends global reach with local heritage, The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) have been named the Official Soft Drinks Partners for the Glasgow 2026 Games and Official Partners of Team Scotland.

The announcement was made at CCEP’s historic manufacturing site in East Kilbride, where Glasgow 2026 CEO Phil Batty OBE and Team Scotland Chief Executive Jon Doig OBE were joined by Commonwealth athlete Eilidh Gorrell. The group toured the facility, which has been a staple of Scottish manufacturing for over six decades, highlighting the local roots behind the global brand.

When the Games return to Scotland for the first time since 2014, fans and athletes alike will be fueled by an iconic portfolio:
Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (Official Soft Drink)
Powerade (Official Sports Drink)
Smartwater (Official Water Provider)

From July 23 to August 2, 2026, more than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations will compete across ten sports and six Para sports in four of Glasgow’s most iconic venues.

Beyond the sidelines, the partnership is set to drive a significant environmental impact. In alignment with Glasgow 2026’s commitment to sustainability, CCEP is partnering with the charity Keep Scotland Beautiful to clean up the riverbanks of the River Clyde.

This initiative feeds into a larger global mission:
Plastic Prevention: The project supports the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign, aiming to prevent one million pieces of plastic from entering Commonwealth waterways.
Circular Economy: All 500ml CCEP bottles sold at Games venues will be made from 100% recycled plastic and will be fully recyclable.

Phil Batty OBE, CEO of Glasgow 2026, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Coca-Cola brings a wealth of experience in elevating the spectator experience while encouraging sustainable behavior. Seeing these world-class products manufactured right here in East Kilbride makes this partnership even more special.”

Stephen Moorhouse, General Manager at CCEP GB, echoed the sentiment of local pride: “With our strong roots in East Kilbride, supporting the Games in Glasgow feels like coming home. We are focused on creating a positive impact for local communities and an unforgettable experience for the thousands of fans traveling to Scotland.”

As the countdown to 2026 begins, the partnership stands as a testament to the power of local manufacturing meeting international excellence, ensuring that when the world arrives in Glasgow, the celebration is as sustainable as it is refreshing.
