Major schedule shift likely for PSL 2027 to avoid IPL clash
By Nawaz Gohar ; The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering a major strategic overhaul for the scheduling of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2027.
According to reliable sources, plans are underway to adjust the tournament’s window so that it both commences and concludes entirely before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The primary objective of this new strategy is to eliminate player overlapping issues. In recent editions, high-profile international stars have frequently departed the PSL midway through the tournament to fulfill their IPL commitments.
By wrapping up the league earlier, the PCB aims to ensure the undivided availability of top-tier global talent from the opening match to the final, thereby maintaining the league’s competitive balance, quality, and fan engagement.
Cricket analysts view this potential shift as a definitive masterstroke for Pakistan cricket. If successfully implemented, the move will significantly safeguard franchise investments, enhance broadcasting value, and solidify the PSL’s reputation as a premier, uninterrupted fixture on the global cricket calendar.
