Pakistan squash prodigies fly out for World Junior Championships in Canada
By Nawaz Gohar ; The next generation of Pakistan’s squash legacy has officially taken flight. The Pakistan Junior Squash Team departed from Islamabad International Airport, bound for Canada to compete in the highly anticipated World Squash Junior Individual & Team Championships 2026.
The prestigious 12-day global fixture is scheduled to run from July 20 to July 31, 2026, in the scenic city of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Serving as the ultimate litmus test for under-19 talent, the premier tournament will feature a grueling lineup of 185 elite players representing 24 nations across both the men’s and women’s categories.
The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has fielded a formidable four-member squad brimming with domestic circuit champions. Spearheading the national challenge on the glass courts are: Abdullah Nawaz, Nauman Khan, Mohammad Umair Arif and Yahya Khan.
The young prodigies are accompanied by a high-profile management duo: Team Manager Mansoor Zaman and Head Coach Fahim Gul. Both veterans bring decades of international experience to the corner, a crucial asset as Pakistan aims to reclaim its historic dominance in the junior ranks.
Insiders close to the camp reveal that the squad underwent rigorous high-performance training ahead of their departure, focusing heavily on physical conditioning and tactical adaptability to counter the North American playing conditions.
With international scouts watching closely, the stakes are incredibly high for these young athletes. As the green shirts arrive at Niagara-on-the-Lake, the entire nation stands united in backing them to bring the coveted world title back home.
