Pakistan clinch Tri-Nation T20 Series title with six-wicket win over Sri Lanka
By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan clinched the Tri-Nation T20 Series title after defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final. The national team comfortably chased down the target in the 19th over to seal the victory.
In the final played at Rawalpindi, Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 114 runs in 19.1 overs, setting Pakistan a target of 115.
For Sri Lanka, Kamal Mishara stood out with a fighting knock of 59 runs. Kusal Mendis scored 14, while Pathum Nissanka contributed 11. Notably, seven Sri Lankan batsmen failed to reach double figures.
From Pakistan’s bowling lineup, Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi impressed with three wickets each. Abrar Ahmed claimed two, while Saim Ayub and Salman Mirza took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan successfully chased the target in 18.4 overs with four wickets down. Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with an unbeaten 37, while Saim Ayub added a valuable 36 and Sahibzada Farhan made 23. Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 14 before getting out, whereas Fakhar Zaman (3) and wicketkeeper Usman Khan (3*) remained unbeaten at the end.
For Sri Lanka, Eshan Malinga and Wanindu Hasaranga picked up one wicket each, while Pawan Rathnayake claimed two.
