PCB announces strict media accreditation policy for HBL PSL 2026
By Nawaz Gohar ; The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially released the Terms and Conditions for media accreditation for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. The guidelines aim to ensure a professional, organized, and secure working environment for the press during matches, training sessions, and official press conferences.
Accreditation is strictly reserved for active representatives of print, photo, radio, TV, news agencies, and recognized online media outlets. The PCB clarified that accreditation will not be granted to individuals involved in the commercial sale of photographs or content without prior written authorization from the Board.
Mandatory Protocols and Conduct
Identification: Approved media personnel must wear their non-transferable accreditation cards at all times. Failure to display the card prominently will result in a denial of entry to stadiums and practice facilities.
Professionalism: The PCB has mandated a “professional and dignified” demeanor toward players, officials, and staff. Any form of harassment or discrimination based on race, religion, nationality, or gender will result in immediate revocation of credentials.
Behavioral Restrictions: Entry while intoxicated or engaging in inappropriate behavior will lead to immediate expulsion from the venue.
Anti-Corruption and Security Compliance
The PCB has placed significant emphasis on its Anti-Corruption Policy. Media representatives are strictly prohibited from using information gained through their access for betting, gambling, or any illicit financial gain. Journalists are also legally obligated to report any suspicious activity or approach to the relevant authorities immediately.
Broadcasting and Recording Restrictions
Match Days: Non-rights holding TV channels and digital platforms are strictly prohibited from recording video or audio-visual content inside the stadium on match days.
Non-Match Days: Limited coverage of training sessions and press conferences will be permitted, subject to PCB’s specific guidelines.
Photography: Professional photographers must meet technical standards, including the use of a minimum 400mm lens.
Final Authority and Digital Media
The PCB maintains full discretion over the approval of applications; submitting a request does not guarantee access. While national and international agencies, regional media, and freelancers will be accommodated, a specific quota has been set for YouTubers and bloggers based on available space and platform reach.
The Board warned that any violation of these terms may lead to the suspension of accreditation and, where necessary, formal legal action.
