Sahibzada Farhan shatters Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition
By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan’s opening batter, Sahibzada Farhan, has claimed the world record for the highest individual runs scored in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. During the high-stakes clash against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday, Farhan played a stellar knock, scoring 100 runs off just 60 deliveries.
With this performance, Farhan surpassed the long-standing record held by India’s Virat Kohli, who had amassed a total of 319 runs during the 2014 T20 World Cup.
In addition to the aggregate runs record, Sahibzada Farhan also secured the record for the most half-centuries in a single T20 World Cup tournament. By reaching his milestone against Sri Lanka, he marked his fourth score of 50 or more in this edition—a feat previously shared by Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, and Matthew Hayden.
The record-breaking spree did not stop there. Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman also established a new record for the highest partnership for Pakistan in T20 World Cup history.
The duo stitched together a massive 176-run stand, eclipsing the previous best of 152 runs set by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan against India in 2021.
