Syeda Mehreen meets Gen Sahi to discuss youth engagement and upcoming sports initiatives

PM’s youth program and AFP strategy meeting focuse on Youth Sports and 2027 South Asian Games preparation

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Syeda Mehreen Sajid, Coordinator for the Prime Minister’s Youth Development Program, met with Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of the Asian Athletics Development Commission, at his office to discuss comprehensive youth engagement strategies and upcoming sports initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Shahjehan Mir, Secretary General of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP). Discussions focused primarily on aligning sports activities with the Prime Minister’s vision for healthy youth development, encouraging active participation among young citizens, and promoting sports culture across the country.

A major key proposal introduced during the session was the organization of a mega sports event aimed at boosting youth involvement. The leaders conducted detailed deliberations on launching targeted athletic programs in the near future and agreed to formulate a comprehensive working paper to be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office for formal approval.

Additionally, plans were outlined to organize an event highlighting the roles and achievements of the Armed Forces and political leadership during historical national struggles (Markho-e-Haq).

Commenting on the proposed mega event, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi emphasized its strategic importance, noting that it would serve as an ideal platform to assess administrative and technical readiness ahead of the South Asian Games 2027.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Shahjehan Mir assured full technical and organizational support on behalf of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan to guarantee the successful execution of the planned initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi presented a commemorative shield to Syeda Mehreen Sajid in recognition of her efforts toward youth development and sports promotion.
