The Hundred: Speculation ends as organisers confirm equal opportunities for Pakistani players
By Nawaz Gohar ; Speculation regarding the participation of Pakistani players in England’s unique cricket league, “The Hundred,” has come to an end. Organizers and all eight franchises issued a joint statement clarifying that the event remains equally open to players from every nation.
Recent reports had claimed that some Indian owners of the franchises were considering not selecting Pakistani players in the upcoming auction. However, this latest statement has formally dismissed those rumors.
Organizers emphasized that no discrimination based on nationality will be tolerated within the tournament.
Prior to this, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had sent an official email warning teams that strict action would be taken if any evidence of player neglect or bias surfaced. This move has effectively cleared the air.
Interestingly, 67 Pakistani cricketers have registered for the upcoming auction, including 63 men and 4 women. Following this announcement, a wave of excitement has spread among Pakistani fans, who are now eagerly looking toward the draft to see which national stars will feature in the league.
Cricket analysts believe this development sends a strong message that merit remains the sole basis for global leagues, ensuring that politics and speculation find no place on the cricket field.
