Wasim Akram Parts Ways with Sialkot Stallionz Amid Ownership Dispute

Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram has distanced himself from Pakistan Super League franchise Sialkot Stallionz following an ongoing ownership dispute between the franchise’s stakeholders.

Just a week ago, the franchise had announced Akram’s appointment as President. However, all related posts have now been removed from the team’s official social media accounts.

A spokesperson for Akram clarified that no formal written agreement had been signed with Sialkot Stallionz. While initial discussions had taken place, Akram decided not to proceed due to the internal dispute among the franchise owners.

Majority shareholder Muhammad Shahid stated that his partner, Hamza Majeed, had failed to deal with stakeholders appropriately, which he claims led to Akram’s withdrawal from the franchise.

Shahid, a businessman based in Australia, further asserted that a valid ownership agreement exists between Alfa Group and OZ Group regarding Sialkot Stallionz, and that it cannot be denied under any circumstances. He also alleged that the bank guarantee submitted by Hamza Majeed to the Pakistan Cricket Board has expired, with payment still pending.

Accusing Majeed of damaging the franchise and bringing disrepute to the league, Shahid urged the Pakistan Super League administration to take immediate notice of the situation and transfer the franchise’s affairs and ownership to Alfa Group.
