Diamond Divas and Rose Rebels secure victories in Dr. Shah’s 5-A Side Girls Hockey Tournament

Karachi: Dr. Shah’s 5-A-Side Girls Hockey Tournament organized by KHA Women’s Wing in Collaboration with Karachi Hockey Association, kicked off to a thrilling start , with Diamond Divas beating Pearl Pioneers 7-0. Mahnoor and Sidra scored three goals each, while Hamna Nadeem added one goal.

In the second match, Rose Rebels defeated Queen Bees 2-0, with Maheen and Sehrish scoring one goal each at Mini Astro Turf Hockey Ground of Olympian Hanif Khan & Dr Junaid Ali Shah Sports Complex Gulshan e Iqbal Karachi. The tournament features five teams competing in league matches and was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Syed Imran Ali Shah.

Guest of Honor Mrs. Asma Ali Shah President KHA Women’s Wing, Secretary Women wing Batool Kazim,Dr. Arif Hafeez,Sagheer Hussain KHA Coach, SSP (R) Ejazuddin, Javed Iqbal Joint Secretary KHA, District Sports Officer Hajra Nawab and other dignitaries were also there to show their support.

Dr. Imran Ali Shah praised the efforts of KHA Women’s Wing in promotion of women’s hockey and providing a safe and playable environment to the players. He also acknowledged the contributions of Syed Junaid Ali Shah and Madam Shehla Raza and assured continuous support to KHA.

Mrs Asma Ali Shah President Women Wing KHA expressed her commitment to support and encourage the girls for their participation in hockey, she distributed cash prizes to regular attendees.

Dr Syed Imran Ali Shah provide sponsorship to Women hockey, distributed the playing Shirts among the players and officials and announced plans to provide hockey sticks and balls.

The Secretary of KHA Women’s Wing Batool Kazim highlighted the challenges faced by girls in pursuing sports and emphasized the importance of providing a supportive environment.

She noted that girls from all districts are taking training at KHA under qualified coaches and participating in the tournament. The aim is to uplift the Women’s Wing and support girls’ hockey.

The training facility is always open for all players, and girls of all ages are taking advantage of this opportunity.

The tournament has been a huge success so far, with all participating teams displaying excellent skills and sportsmanship.  The event has been well-attended by hockey enthusiasts and is expected to continue until its conclusion. Opening day matches were supervised by umpires Rizwan Khan and Zafeer Ahmed.
