PSL 11 Mid-Season Review: Youth brigade rises as Saim and Shadab face reality check
By Nawaz Gohar ; Young left-handers like Maaz Sadaqat, Shamil Hussain, and Abdullah Fazal are delivering exceptional performances. If Saim Ayub fails to make an impact in this PSL, his spot in the national team could be in serious jeopardy.
Shadab Khan — The Islamabad United Brand:
In the PSL, Shadab Khan remains a “one-man show” in bowling, batting, and fielding—a literal winning machine for his franchise. However, he has yet to replicate that same dominance in international cricket, where his performance remains noticeably off-color.
Bowling Analysis:
Hassan Ali: He looks in complete rhythm, masterfully using swing, yorkers, hard lengths, and sharp bouncers.
Amir Khan: An emerging pacer clocking 140–145 kph, showing real life and energy.
Big Names: So far, the marquee bowlers have failed to live up to expectations.
Batting and All-rounders:
Arafat Minhas: With his left-arm spin and batting, he has emerged as the best all-rounder of the tournament so far.
Sameer Minhas: A right-handed batsman and a find from the U-19 circuit; his brilliant 82-run innings marks him as a future star.
Azam Khan: Has signaled a comeback with two solid innings.
Wicketkeepers: As a group, the wicketkeeper-batsmen have yet to truly impress.
The PSL is not just a tournament; it is a fierce battleground where new talent is taking over. While stars like Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan can be “one-man shows” in the league, the real challenge remains performing at the international level.
