How Zaraq Nazir turned influencer cricket into Pakistan’s fastest-growing sports entertainment platform

What began as casual games between content creators soon developed into a professionally organized competition, attracting packed crowds, millions of online viewers and significant commercial interest. The league has demonstrated how digital creators can successfully bridge the gap between social media audiences and live sporting events.

The idea originated from regular cricket matches played by Zaraq and fellow creator Nadeem Mubarak. Short videos from those games generated overwhelming engagement across social media, convincing the organizers that audiences wanted to see their favourite digital personalities compete in a structured sporting environment.

That vision became reality with the inaugural ICL, staged from May 8 to May 10, 2026, at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala. Featuring leading digital personalities including Rajab Butt, Nadir Ali and Sid Mr Rapper, the tournament attracted enthusiastic spectators while recording millions of online views.

As the league’s founding Chief Executive Officer, Zaraq established its operational framework, coordinated participating teams and introduced the competition to mainstream media. As the tournament expanded, he transitioned into the role of Chief Operating Officer to oversee strategy and tournament operations.

Away from administration, Zaraq also represented one of the competing teams. His side impressed throughout the tournament before adverse weather disrupted the knockout stages, preventing the completion of its title challenge.

The success of the Influencers Cricket League highlights a significant shift in Pakistan’s sporting landscape, where digital influence is increasingly creating new commercial opportunities, expanding fan engagement and attracting younger audiences. By combining sport, entertainment and digital media, Zaraq Nazir has introduced an innovative model that could shape the future of sports promotion and event management in Pakistan.
