KP Sports Writers Association hosts grand reception for Amjad Aziz Malik following global recognition
By Nawaz Gohar ; The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association (SWA) organized a prestigious reception to celebrate senior sports journalist Amjad Aziz Malik on his election as a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Executive Committee of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).
The event was attended by a galaxy of prominent figures from the worlds of sports and journalism. Among the distinguished guests were squash legend Qamar Zaman, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider,
President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation Azhar Ali Shah, former President Nisar Ahmed, Amjad Khan of the Provincial Olympic Association, SWA President Asim Shiraz, and Secretary Shahid Afridi.
Upon his arrival, Mr. Malik was accorded a warm welcome and presented with bouquets, garlands, the traditional Pashtun turban (Lungi), and a commemorative shield in recognition of his global achievement.
Addressing the gathering, Amjad Aziz Malik reflected on his career spanning four decades.
“Having completed 40 years in sports journalism, this international honor is the fruit of constant hard work, dedication, and the immense support of my colleagues,” he stated.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the promotion of sports and the welfare of sports journalists, expressing his gratitude to both AIPS and the Sports Writers Association for the recognition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Qamar Zaman, Azhar Ali Shah, and Asim Shiraz extended their heartfelt congratulations, noting that Mr. Malik’s election as a lifetime executive member is a moment of immense pride for Pakistan, and specifically for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The speakers lauded his professional competence and tireless efforts, which have brought international laurels to the country. They highlighted his career as a “beacon of light” for upcoming journalists and expressed their confidence that he would continue to project a positive image of Pakistan on the global stage through his future endeavors.
