PSB slashes red tape to streamline sports governance and support athletes

By Nawaz Gohar ; In a major move to eliminate bureaucratic red tape, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has launched immediate administrative reforms designed to modernize sports governance and better support the country’s athletes and national federations.

The sweeping changes were set in motion on day one of Secretary of the Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, assuming additional charge as Director General of the PSB. Recognizing the administrative hurdles facing sports bodies, Wani immediately directed a complete overhaul and downsizing of the affiliation proforma for National Sports Federations.

According to officials, the revised format has been stripped of unnecessary complexities. It is now a concise, practical, and user-friendly document that slashes paperwork while strictly maintaining transparency and governance compliance.

Streamlining International Travel
In another major breakthrough for the sports community, the PSB has overhauled the rigorous No Objection Certificate (NOC) process. The documentation required for athletes and federations traveling abroad for international competitions, training camps, and sporting events has been heavily streamlined.

This long-awaited upgrade is expected to:

Eliminate unnecessary delays in travel approvals.

Minimize tedious paperwork for sports professionals.

Enhance seamless coordination between national federations and the PSB.

An Athlete-Centered Vision
Commenting on the urgent reforms, Secretary IPC/DG PSB Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani emphasized that the heart of these changes is a commitment to the athletes themselves.

“Our objective is to foster athlete-centered governance. By cutting down bureaucratic hurdles and boosting efficiency, we want to encourage greater, hassle-free participation of Pakistani athletes on the international stage.” — Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary IPC / DG PSB

Wani reiterated that this is just the beginning of a broader institutional overhaul. Moving forward, the PSB will aggressively pursue digitization, enhanced service delivery, and unmatched transparency to ensure ease of access for all stakeholders in Pakistan’s sports ecosystem.
