Jamal Group honours Rashid Malik, names him brand ambassador
LAHORE: Jamal Group has honoured Pakistan’s leading ITF senior player and former Davis Cup player Rashid Ahmad Malik for his outstanding services to tennis and consistent international success, while naming him its Brand Ambassador.
The recognition comes after Malik received the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz in acknowledgement of his services to the sport. He has remained one of Pakistan’s most prominent senior tennis players, combining his international playing career with coaching, administration and efforts to develop the game at grassroots level.
ITF records show Malik reached a career-high No. 46 in the world in the 60+ singles category in October 2024.
Jamal Group CEO Sami Farooq and Director Usman Farooq appreciated Rashid Malik’s contribution to Pakistani tennis and his continued success on the ITF Masters circuit.
Malik also thanked the Jamal Group leadership for the honour and said he remained committed to representing Pakistan and promoting tennis despite dealing with injuries. “I am struggling with injuries, but I remain hungry and mentally tough to win more titles for my country,” he said.
Malik is now preparing for his next ITF Masters event in Thailand from November 14, determined to add another international title to his already decorated cap. He said balancing competitive tennis with coaching and administrative responsibilities was challenging but remained committed to the sport’s development. “It is not easy to train players, run an association, play for myself and work for the development of tennis in Pakistan,” he said.
The renowned tennis coach also appreciated the Sports Board Punjab for developing a professional sports system and academies, while praising the Punjab government for its initiatives to promote sports.
Malik also praised the Punjab government for taking steps to promote sports across the province, saying Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz had demonstrated a clear vision for the development of different sports disciplines and that sports were making rapid progress under her leadership.
