Pakistan Thrash China To Seal Third Straight Win At Asian Games 2026
Pakistan picked up another win at the 2026 Asian Games after beating China 3-0 in their Pool B men’s hockey game at Kawasaki Juko Stadium on Thursday.
China managed to keep Pakistan quiet during the opening 15 minutes, with neither side finding a way through in the first quarter. Pakistan, however, began to create more chances as the game moved forward.
The breakthrough finally came in the 19th minute. Captain Abubakar Mahmood stepped up to take a penalty corner and made no mistake, putting Pakistan in front.
The green shirts did not have to wait long for a second goal. Just five minutes later, Sufyan Khan converted another penalty corner to increase Pakistan’s lead to 2-0.
Pakistan entered the second half with a three-goal cushion after Shahid found the target late in the second quarter. The forward produced a fine field goal in the 28th minute to make it 3-0.
China struggled to respond after the break and failed to put Pakistan’s defence under serious pressure. Even after Zikriya Hayat was handed a green card in the third quarter, Pakistan kept their lead intact and finished the game without conceding.
The result also extended Pakistan’s perfect start to three wins in three matches in the men’s hockey event. Their campaign began with a huge 9-0 victory against Thailand, followed by a 5-1 win over Uzbekistan in their second league game.
The win kept Pakistan second in Pool B with nine points from three matches. They have a goal difference of 16 and are only behind Malaysia, who also have nine points but a better goal difference of 24.
Pakistan will now take on Malaysia in their next league match on Saturday at the same venue. The result could have a major impact on the final standings, with both teams looking to finish at the top of Pool B.
