Expansion Unleashed: Ten Titans compete for PSL’s New Frontier

By Nawaz Gohar ; The landscape of franchise cricket in Pakistan is on the precipice of a historic transformation. As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) prepares to evolve into an eight-team powerhouse for its 11th edition, the race for ownership has narrowed to a select group of visionary investors.

Following a rigorous technical evaluation by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ten bidders have emerged from a global pool of twelve, securing their place in the final high-stakes auction scheduled for tomorrow at the Jinnah Convention Centre.

The finalized list of bidders represents a diverse cross-section of industry leaders, from telecommunications and renewable energy to tech innovators and real estate giants.

The qualified parties are:
Inverex Solar Energy (Renewable Energy) OZ Group (Conglomerate) VGO Tel (Mobile Technology)

Jazz (Telecommunications) Deharki Sugar Mills (DSM) (Agro-Industry)  i2c (Financial Tech)

Prism Estate & Builders (Real Estate)  Walee Technologies (MarTech/AI)  AIM Next Inc (Global Tech Services)

FKS (Logistics & Trading)

The two successful bidders will not only secure a seat at the table of one of the world’s most lucrative cricket leagues but will also have the privilege of choosing the identity of their franchises from a list of iconic Pakistani cities.

The available territories for representation include:
Rawalpindi ; Sialkot ; Faisalabad ; Hyderabad ; Gilgit ; Muzaffarabad

The inclusion of regions like Gilgit and Muzaffarabad signals the PCB’s strategic intent to bring the “HBL PSL Fever” to every corner of the country, integrating the northern territories and Azad Kashmir into the mainstream cricketing fold.

The expansion marks a pivotal moment for the league, which has operated with six teams since 2018. With the addition of two new franchises, the tournament structure is set for a significant overhaul.

PSL Season 11 is officially scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, 2026. This window promises a longer, more intense competition, providing more opportunities for local talent to shine alongside international stars.

This isn’t merely a business transaction; it is a vote of confidence in the Pakistan brand. Despite global economic fluctuations, the fact that ten distinct entities, ranging from tech startups to established industrial houses, are willing to commit massive capital to the PSL proves that the league remains the “crown jewel” of Pakistan’s sports economy.

Thursday’s auction in Islamabad will be less about the highest bidder and more about who carries the vision to define the next decade of Pakistan cricket.
