India Creates History: Surpasses Australia’s record for most consecutive wins in ICC white-ball events

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Following their clinical victory over Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian cricket team has officially set a new world record for the most consecutive wins in ICC white-ball events.

India has now achieved an unprecedented streak of 16 consecutive victories in limited-overs ICC tournaments. This remarkable run began in late 2023, following their defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad, and has now evolved into the longest winning streak in the history of global cricket events.

The milestone was reached during the 27th match of the T20 World Cup 2026, where India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs, simultaneously securing their berth in the Super Eight stage.

It is worth noting that the previous record for the most consecutive wins in ICC events was held by Australia. The “Kangaroos” had maintained a 15-match winning streak between 2006 and 2007. By winning their 16th straight game today, India has officially eclipsed that 17-year-old record.
