Mohsin Naqvi unveils major prize boost as PSL expands to eight teams
By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced a significant increase in prize money for the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In a statement issued on X, Naqvi revealed that from the next PSL season onward, franchise teams will be rewarded with substantially enhanced prize amounts. According to the announcement, the PSL 11 champion team will receive USD 500,000, while the runner-up side will be awarded USD 300,000.
Naqvi further stated that a special prize of USD 200,000 will be given to the franchise that demonstrates the best performance in cricket development, emphasizing the league’s role in elevating Pakistan cricket. “Let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights,” he added.
The PCB chairman also confirmed a major expansion, stating that PSL Season 11 will feature eight teams instead of six. The auction for the two new teams will be held on January 6, with Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad listed as potential host cities.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer noted that the league continues to grow as a globally recognized T20 competition, with its expansion reflecting increasing international stature and commercial value.
