UOL hosts inauguration of Olympic Solidarity technical courses in fencing

LAHORE ; The University of Lahore (UOL) hosted the inauguration ceremony of the “Olympic Solidarity Technical Courses for Coaches & Athletes Entourage Programme in Fencing,” marking an important milestone in the promotion of professional sports education and technical training in Pakistan.

The prestigious initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of coaches, athletes, and sports professionals through specialized international-level training under the Olympic Solidarity programme, while also contributing to the long-term development of fencing in the country.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent personalities from Pakistan’s sports and education sectors, including Secretary General of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, President of Pakistan Fencing Federation (PFF) Behzad Anwar, Chairman Board of Governors UOL Awais Raoof, and Deputy Chairman Board of Governors UOL Uzair Raoof.

As part of the programme, internationally renowned fencing coach Jerzy Zbigniew Konczalski from Poland joined the University of Lahore to provide advanced technical training and share modern coaching techniques aimed at elevating the standard of fencing in Pakistan. The programme brought together coaches, athletes, and sports professionals from all provinces of the country, creating a valuable platform for learning, collaboration, and exchange of expertise.

Addressing the ceremony, the distinguished guests praised the efforts of the University of Lahore for taking practical steps toward the promotion of sports development and providing opportunities for international-standard training within Pakistan.

They emphasised that professional sports education and technical learning are essential for nurturing talent, empowering young athletes, and strengthening Pakistan’s representation in international competitions.

Deputy Chairman UOL Uzair Raoof reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, youth empowerment, and the promotion of sports initiatives that contribute positively to society and national progress. He said that UOL remains dedicated to creating opportunities that help young athletes and professionals compete confidently at the international level.

The inauguration ceremony also featured an exhibition fencing match in which players demonstrated their technical skills and athletic abilities before the audience and distinguished guests. The display received appreciation from attendees and highlighted the growing interest and potential of fencing in Pakistan.

The event concluded with a collective commitment from organisers, officials, and participants to continue collaborative efforts for the advancement of fencing, sports education, and athlete development in Pakistan, while strengthening the country’s connection with international sporting standards and opportunities.
