7th Tour of Islamabad Concludes Successfully with Thrilling Final Stage at Faisal Hills

Islamabad, The 7th Tour of Islamabad, a premier three-day stage cycling race, concluded today with an exciting final stage held at B-17 and Faisal Hills, marking the successful completion of one of Pakistan’s most challenging national road cycling events. The tour was held from 19 to 21 December and brought together elite cyclists from across the country.

The event was jointly organized by the Islamabad Cycling Association and Aero Sports, and featured three demanding stages designed to test endurance, climbing ability, and race tactics. Stage 1 ran from Islamabad Zoo to Pir Sohawa, followed by Stage 2 from Faisal Masjid to Murree, while the third and final stage at Faisal Hills provided a competitive and scenic conclusion to the race.

The tour included men’s and women’s categories, with divisions for Professional, Masters 40–49 years, and Masters 50 years and above. Teams from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, Army, SSGC, POF Wah, and Rohtas Cycling participated, reflecting strong nationwide representation.

In the Men’s Professional category, Farman Muhammad of SSGC Red claimed overall victory with a total accumulated time of 6 hours, 4 minutes, and 9 seconds. He was followed by Abdul Razzaq (SSGC) in second place and Ali Ilyas (SSGC) in third.

The Men Masters 40–49 title was secured by Wazir Ahmed (SSGC), with Naimat Ali (SSGC) finishing second and Shahrez Azeem Khan (Lahore) in third. In the Men Masters 50+ category, Rizwan Ullah Nazir (Islamabad) emerged as the winner, while Sher Muhammad (Balochistan) finished second.

In the Women’s Professional category, Rabia Garib (SSGC) claimed first place, followed by Marina (SSGC) in second and Sumaira (SSGC) in third.

The closing ceremony was held at Faisal Hills and was attended by Mr. Syed Azhar Ali Shah, President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, and Col (R) Waqar, Administrator Faisal Hills, as the honored guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Col (R) Waqar emphasized the importance of healthy and active lifestyles, highlighting cycling as a sustainable and accessible sport that promotes physical fitness, mental well-being, and community engagement. He appreciated the organizers for hosting an event that encourages positive recreational activities in the capital.

Mr. Syed Azhar Ali Shah, President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, praised the organizers and participating teams, stating that events like the Tour of Islamabad play a vital role in the promotion and development of cycling in Pakistan. He stressed that regular national-level competitions are essential for identifying talent, improving performance standards, and inspiring the next generation of cyclists.

The successful organization of the 7th Tour of Islamabad once again underlines its significance in Pakistan’s cycling calendar and its contribution to promoting competitive cycling while showcasing the scenic routes of the Islamabad region.
