Punjab grabs first position with 600 points while the runners-up trophy was won by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 300 points

LAHORE (March 13, 2022): Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti awarded the National Horse & Cattle Show sports events winners’ trophy to the Punjab contingent at a grand prize distribution ceremony held at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall here on Saturday.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Director Staff Syed Omair Hasan, Deputy Directors Tariq Wattoo, Chand Perveen and a large number of sports organizers, officials and players were also present on this occasion.

Punjab grabbed first position with 600 points while the runners-up trophy was won by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 300 points.

 

 

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti congratulated the winning teams and the Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab for holding a mega event of National Horse & Cattle Show sports competitions in such a magnificent manner.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said win or loss is part of the game and I would say that the losing teams should not lose their heart and spirit. “They should put in more hard work in their respective game and try to rectify their weaknesses in their playing techniques”.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said it is a great achievement of the Punjab govt to hold the National Horse & Cattle Show after a lapse of seven years. “The great traditional events like this should be held every year”.

 

 

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti further said that it is another remarkable feat on the part of Punjab Sports Ministry to get approved Sports Welfare Fund as part of Punjab’s first-ever Sports Policy. “All the title winners will get a stipend throughout the year under Sports Welfare Fund,” he added.

In his address, Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan congratulated the all winning teams and appreciated organizers and officials for holding National Horse & Cattle Show sports competitions in a successful manner. He also thanked all the visiting sports contingents of other provinces for their participation in the grand event.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan also showered praise on over 100 officials for conducting sports events of six games quite professionally. “National Horse & Cattle Show sports competitions provided a suitable platform to all talented athletes from across the country to express their sports potential,” he added.

 

 

Later, all the contingent leaders were given souvenirs at the prize distribution ceremony.

National Horse & Cattle Show sports competitions concluded at Nishtar Park Sports Complex with four sports events including hockey, kabaddi, volleyball and wrestling out of six were won by Punjab here on Saturday. The title of football was won by Balochistan.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan graced the final competitions as chief guest in all sports events. The sports competitions of Horse & Cattle Show were organised under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab.

 

 

Kabaddi: The final of the kabaddi event was played between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Punjab Stadium in which Punjab thrashed their opponents by 19 points with the final score of 57-38 without much trouble.

The Punjab team exhibited better techniques and fitness in the important final match. They were leading by 32-21 at the end of first half while in the second half Punjab team added 25 more points as compared to 17 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team. Punjab’s Hamza and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mehran demonstrated excellent piece of kabaddi and won immense appreciation from the crowd.

Hockey: Punjab won the hockey title when they edged out Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 5-4 in penalty shoot outs after a nail-biting final at National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2.

 

 

Earlier, both the teams played excellent hockey and finished the match as 1-1 draw in the stipulated time. They demonstrated wonderful defence, ball control, stick work and dodging throughout the duration of the regular match.

Football: The title of National Horse & Cattle Show football event went to Balochistan who defeated Gilgit Baltistan by 2-1 after a closely-fought final at the Punjab Stadium.

Tug-of-War: Shalimar Town team defeated Lahore City in the final of National Horse and Cattle Show Tug-of-War event at Punjab Stadium on Saturday.

Volleyball: In National Horse & Cattle Show volleyball final, Punjab emerged triumphant against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 3-2 at NPSC Gymnasium Hall.
