In a momentous achievement for Pakistan squash, sisters Mahnoor Ali and Sehrish Ali have both qualified for the final of the prestigious WSF 20th Penang Junior Open 2024, an Asian Junior Super Series event held in Penang,
Malaysia. This marks only the second time in the history of Pakistan squash that two sisters have reached the final of a Platinum tournament.
Mahnoor Ali triumphed over China’s Yin Xyuan in a thrilling match that lasted 38 minutes, with scores of 11/8, 10/12, 11/4, 11/5. Meanwhile, Sehrish Ali battled through a grueling 57-minute match against Malaysia’s Maisra, clinching victory with scores of 11/6, 6/11, 11/2, 8/11, 8/11.
Despite facing fierce competition and having no supporters in the large crowd, the Ali sisters showcased remarkable resilience and skill. Their journey to the final was fueled by the unwavering support of their mentor,
Qamar Zaman, the KP Squash Association, PAF Squash, the Directorate General of Sports KP, their coach Riaz Khan, Munawar Zaman, Tahir Iqbal Khan, the Bard Foundation, and their dedicated parents.
Thanks to Almighty Allah, this historic feat not only brings pride to the nation but also sets a shining example for aspiring athletes in Pakistan.
